Kamaka encourages others to speak with mana, act with respect, and believe in their inner strength. KAMAKA
Kaitiaki cares deeply for Papatūānuku and leads with aroha and responsibility. She teaches tamariki to care for the planet by protecting waterways, picking up rubbish, planting trees, and recycling. Kaitiaki reminds us that even small actions like turning off the tap or using reusables can make a big difference. Whether at kura, home, or in the community, she encourages us all to be everyday kaitiaki of our taiao 🗣 "Tiakina te taiao – care for the environment!"
KAITIAKI
Matua Te Moa is the kaumātua of the Mahi Pai whānau; a proud moa full of knowledge, humour, and heart. He shares stories of the past, lessons of the present, and hopes for the future, helping tamariki connect to their whakapapa and cultural identity. With every kōrero, Matua Te Moa reminds us that knowing where we come from helps us stand strong in who we are. His wisdom, warmth, and cheeky jokes make learning fun and meaningful for everyone he meets. 🗣 "Kia mōhio koe ko wai koe – know who you are."
MATUA TE MOA
Kori loves being active and feeling good! He shows tamariki that moving your body, eating healthy kai, and drinking wai Māori helps your tinana grow strong and keeps your mind energised and happy. Kori encourages us to take care of ourselves to help us grow strong and feel happy inside and out. 🗣 "Kia kori te tinana, kia ora te hinengaro – move your body, nourish your mind!"

Aroha represents love, kindness, and connection. She teaches tamariki the importance of showing empathy, being a good friend, and spreading aroha in everything they do. Whether it’s helping someone feel included, sharing with others, or simply offering a kind word, Aroha reminds us that small acts of love can make a big difference. AROHA
Ihi bursts with imagination, energy, and adventure. With his neurodiverse mind and open heart, he shows tamariki that being different is something to be proud of. Ihi encourages tamariki to explore their creativity, think in their own unique way, and see the beauty in being themselves. Whether he's dreaming big or creating something new, Ihi reminds us that there's magic in thinking differently.

IHI
Waiata expresses herself through song, dance, and big emotions. She encourages tamariki to be confident, use their voice, and celebrate who they are. WAIATA
Taiki is the enchanted, musical train who keeps the Mahi Pai crew moving on their adventures. With his big smile, cheerful toot-toots, and love for music, Taiki brings energy, rhythm, and fun wherever he goes. He connects each kaupapa and reminds tamariki that learning is a journey and it’s even better when we go together. Taiki encourages tamariki to stay curious, explore new things, and enjoy the ride! 🗣 "Toot toot! Haere tātou – let’s go together!"
TAIKI
Pīwari is a friendly, bubbly honey bee who supports tamariki to feel good every day and grow strong for the future. As the kaitiaki hauora for Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Pīwari shares simple, positive health messages that support tamariki to shine their brightest!
